30 in 30 Day 24

I wish this was my 24th painting to post this month, but I think I'm off by a couple.  Oh well, I am painting a ton!!  And some can't be posted yet because they are gifts.  Sooo, no big deal.  Today's painting is a little dog named Tyson.  He's a Shihtzu Pom cross, something I had never heard of before, but if I was getting a dog, this would be it!!  Talk about cute!  This guy is an animal actor, playing the part of Toto over 30 times live, on stage in Alberta.  Take a bow-wow, Tyson.
My photo has a bit of glare, as the paint is still wet in areas. lol

30 in 30

30 paintings in 30 Days or so ........
"Van Goat"
12x12
acrylic on canvas
I have a friend who takes amazing pictures.  And she generously gave me permission to use her photos as references.  So I went into her Facebook feed and found this beauty.  The painting started off quite realistic, then I decided I wanted to try my hand at this colourful goat.  I am pretty sure it's a young mountain goat, that she took in Jasper Provincial Park, in Alberta Canada.
I am thrilled with how it turned out.
Thank you to Leslie-Anne Davidson for the photo.
Thanks to Jill Love Clark for the name.

"Bauer"
The Bernese Mountain Dog
12x12
acrylic on canvas

He is just a beautiful dog.  I had the pleasure of meeting his owner, Donnica, at a Women's conference and retreat.  She owns one of my angel wings paintings in memory of her dad, and now she's  looking forward to hanging Bauer's portrait.
Thank you so much, Donnica!!

After I finished this painting last night, I couldn't wait to start on my latest.  It's not really a pet, but it is an animal.

This is Wicket.
He is a beloved member of a Saskatoon Family, who got all dressed up for his portrait.
This  Shih Tzu reminds me of our Bailey dog.  We had her for 16 years and loved her big eyes and her cute underbite.

30 Painting in 30 Days Day 10

"Cooper"
Australian Shepherd
12x12
acrylic on canvas

Karen submitted Cooper's photo the last time I did my 30 in 30 project.
When I messaged her to see if I could use it this time, she said "YES!!!!"  That's right.  4 exclamation marks.

I was seriously tired yesterday, and not even sure I would get it done. I went to my grandson's kindergarten class with all my supplies and we painted birdhouses and trees on 12x12 canvases.
Thank goodness there were 4 moms there to help.
They were enthusiastic little painters and we had lots of Art High- Fives!!

"Miss George with Flower Crown"
10x10
acrylic on canvas

I just love how this turned out.  Lisa sent me photos of Miss George, their much loved St. Bernard.  However, they were professional photos.  (She actually had a Santa Hat on in the original photo) I let Lisa know that I would be unable to paint from a photographer's photo without permission.  Lisa went the extra mile and got permission from Holly at BrindleBerry Dog Photography in Calgary.
Thank you, Holly!!

I don' know what it is with Flower Crowns on Dogs, but I love them.

"Boston"
11x14
acrylic on canvas

Sarah Submitted Boston's photo to me quite a while ago.  I found it hard to photograph this painting with it's  dark background.  I'm sure there are some tips I could learn to do a better job taking pictures.Boston is a "rescue puppy" with some shepherd in him, for sure.   He just looks like the happiest guy around.  And so handsome.

It was a pleasure to paint him.

Now, I am back to the studio to paint Day 8.
Tune in tomorrow!

Myla
12x12
Acrylic on Canvas

This is the third time I've chosen Pet Portraits as my theme for my 30 paintings in 30 Days Challenge, and  Maegan, Myla's owner has submitted her photo every time.  I have to say,  it took me a while to decide to paint her, and I love how it turned out.  The first background was flat pink, and I hated it.  Then I added some white, yellow and a bit of orange to it with some pattern play.  I think Myla will be pleased.
There you go, Myla!!

30 Paintings in 30 Days, day 2

Day 2
I listened to a podcast about marketing, and they said to find your Niche Market.  So I thought, well, my Pet Portraits certainly appeal to dog Lovers, so I joined a couple Facebook groups, and posted some of my work.  I received lots of feedback and some orders.  When I decided to do the 30in30 for February, I posted a little video on one of the groups and the response was PHENOMENAL!!
I will be doing lots of shipping this month.

This is Baxter.  He and his "Brother" love hiking in the mountains and playing in the snow!!

Day 29
A great day at the cabin.....went tobogganing, played cards, enjoyed some wine and painted a dog.
This is Scout.  He was a beautiful, gentle soul.  I enjoyed his company years ago when I painted a baby room mural in his house.

30 paintings in 30 Days. Day 23

LJanuary 23
I am so proud of myself.  I've been managing to do my painting each day, and keep up with the grandchildren and their schedule.  My husband is pretty amazing, though. He's the one who watches the time, and does lots of the cooking. Thanks, dear:))
Today's painting features a beautiful Basset hound, Miss Molly,

30 paintings in 30 days Day 22

Day 22
I was pretty excited to paint this dog.  Ang keeps posting photos of Stella, The Beauty Queen, each photo more priceless than the next.  http://instagram.com/aka_ang_
And I love Stella's unimpressed expression.  Because she's a beauty queen, I pictured her with a red feather boa, kind of like the Red Hat Ladies I've seen.

30 Paintings in 30 Days day 19

Day 19. This pet portrait thing has turned into predominantly Dog Portraits.  When I posted yesterday, I wasn't happy with it. So I changed it.

Today's pet portrait is Tucker.  Those gorgeous curls were so much fun to paint.

30 paintings in 30 Days. day 16

Day 16 Wow!!  Over halfway.  I'm so happy I've made it this far.
Starting this coming weekend we will have our two grandchildren for a week. They are very active young people who (whom?  I'm never sure) we have to get to school, play  school, gymnastics,
Tai Kwon Do, etc........All of it starting early in the morning (which I find Challenging ) and they have to be on time (Another of my challenges ).
Wish me luck!  I do have to say that my husband is very  organized and on time and My daughter in law does it all the time.

So here is today's pet portrait. This is Oreo, he is Oliver's brother who was featured a few days ago.  His toy is "Roadkill Racoon". Hehe.

30 paintings in 30 Days. Day 14

Day 14. January 14th.

Today's painting is of a handsome pup named "Ricky".
I used to work with Ron in my "other life" when I worked in banking.  He and his lovely wife Christine, are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.  Christine sent me a couple photos of Ricky , their " Granddog " to use in my 30 in 30 challenge. I noticed in the background of the photo, the decor of the room was what I would consider, Shabby Chic.  A white slipcovered wing chair, a a carpet with pink roses on it. So I decided to use  a loose rose background for Ricky's portrait. I also created a time lapse video of a portion of the painting and posted it on my Instagram page and my Facebook page. The link to my Facebook is on the sidebar here.
