Painting Day!

It was a small but adventurous group that showed up for a day of painting today.
-29 today, brrrrr.
But Kelly, Brenda and Dorothy showed up today for some painting fun and some YUMMY food.
We started with painting trees, then we enjoyed a Delicious lunch of Lemon Chicken, Brown Rice Pilaf, and Strawberry Spinach Salad, followed with Chocolate truffle desert. A huge "Thank You!" to my hubby, Roy, for cooking and cleaning up, too.

Then after we finished the trees, we painted little chickadees.

Thanks for coming ladies!!

Zebra

Zebra
11 x 14
acrylic
75.00
I've been working on a commission of a leopard, and its gone from bad to worse.
(It looks like a leopard couch with a head...so I'm painting over it and starting again)
While I was looking through an artists site, called WetCanvas,
I found a photo of this Zebra.
Artists upload their own photos, and share reference images with other artists.
Its a great resource for me.
Any way, I painted him just for fun.

One Chickadee......With Pink Blossoms

One Chickadee....With Pink Blossoms
5 x 7
35.00

Well, I have been on a "chickadee spree" lately, haven't I?
Some might say I am obsessed?
I have been loving painting these little guys.  I would really like to get absolutely sure with my brushstrokes, but I just seem to mess it up when I try the "one stroke" approach.
I'll keep trying.
I am having 5 x 7 prints made of all my paintings in the Chickadee series.
They are available in my Etsy shop, just click on the link below.
The pink blossoms made me think of spring.  I know it's a long way off, but I am REALLY looking forward to it.

One Chickadee

5 x 7
Acrylic on Canvas Panel
35.00

This is one independent little bird.
She is looking forward to spring as she perches on the willow.
I am looking forward to spring, too.

These little canvas panels are easy to mat and frame, because of their 5 x 7 size.   You could pick up an inexpensive one at Walmart, or you could go all out and have it custom framed.
The choice is yours

These two little chickadees are all snuggled up and in love.
Wouldn't this would be a cute Valentine?
We were at the cabin at Murphy Lake on the weekend and I took over 250 pictures of birds, deer and grandchildren:))

Spring Chickadee
5 x 7
Acrylic on canvas panel

These little guys are sooo much fun to piant.
We are off to the lake tomorrow, so I will take my trusty camera with me and try to get some
more pictures.
Don't you just love how this little guy is looking at you??....as if to say, "Whatcha doin'?"
I have the next one drawn out already,
and watch for a card set, coming soon.

Chickadee in Winter

5 x 7
acrylic on canvas panel
35.00

I love the chickadees at the lake.  They are quick when they come to the bird feeders, so many of my photos turn out blurry. I love their friendly faces, their cheery songs and their social skills.
Last summer I even got a couple of them to eat out of my hand.
It took lots of patience to stand with my hand outstretched, waiting for one of them to land, but eventually, one did.
It felt so light, like a little tickle.
I was honoured.

I like this quote....it describes time when I'm painting.

Three Portraits

I painted Dalyn as a  Little Fairy. (Wings and antenna)  The photo I worked from was so cute, and I think she had a cold because her cheeks and nose were red.

Then, I was asked to paint her brothers.
Dorien,

And Hayden.
