Something a little different from me today!

When we were up at the cabin at Murphy Lake, last month, there was hardly any snow on the lake.

I took some cool pictures of the ice and what it looks like when it cracks.

The real life version is not nearly as colorful,

but this is how it looks inside my head!

I painted a pink heart shape then added the purple and blues,

Then glued on the antique music, some childrens prayers and poems.

I love how these wings came together.  These were done using my parents loveletters they exchanged while apart.  The got engaged after a short, three week, romance and will celebrate their 54th wedding anniversay in April.  The letters are filled with love and promises, hopes and dreams. 

I love the red lips she pressed to the top of the page with a little note that said "from me".

I have included the stamps and postage marks and some antique love songs, including "Tenderly"

Pen and ink finish off the painting with swirls and roses.

She brought me her Grandparents' love letters, her parents love letters, baby footprints and copies of their hospital braclets, letters from her family and music books from over the years.

Leslie is a Reiki Master, so I included some Reiki symbols, and orbs.

I felt honored to be a witness to all the love from the generations of her family.

I am currently working on a set of wings for a lovely lady.  She brought me her grandparents' and parents' love-letters, her daughter's footprints, photos, and music, and some old cards.  I made copies of the letters and photos, not wanting to tear up the originals.  And the wings are gorgeous!!

Can't wait to show you.

Also, I am in love with her grandparents.  Their letters were filled with love, adoration, and romance!!

I think she was selling shampoo or something.

Well, this bulldog's pose totally made me think about that commercial ......looking at the camera as if to say "Yes, yes, I am beautiful"

The title of this piece is

"Transformed"

An angel wing on canvas using antique books, hymns and love letters.  One of the hymns was called "Transformed"

The title is appropriate in two ways, because the paper has been transformed into a lovely wind, but also because this painting was finished before.  It was a highly textured wing on a brown background, but after looking at it for a bit, I decided to take it a few steps beyond, transforming it into one of my favorites!   Sometimes you only think you are finished!!
