30 paintings in 30 days. Day 20

It's been a great week already.  I finished window painting, finished Two commissions and shipped a painting to BC today.
This painting is a mixed media piece. It's part acrylic and part oil.  The paint I really thick, and creates the feathers that form this wing. I love the colors in the background.  Amethyst, and gold, turquoise, too.

Angel Wings Painting

Michelle Lake Artist
48 x 48
mixed media on canvas
I Created these wings using words, song titles and pages from books.
I was originally inspired to create these "Wings of Love" Paintings using my parents love letters they exchanged when they were engaged to be married.  She was 16 and he was 20.  They had only known each other for a few weeks when he proposed and she said "Yes!"  They have been married for 57 passionate years, and are each others best friend.

Leslie's Wings of Love - A Commission

These are Leslie Graham's Wings of Love
So great to work with her.
She brought me her Grandparents' love letters, her parents love letters, baby footprints and copies of their hospital braclets, letters from her family and music books from over the years.
Leslie is a Reiki Master, so I included some Reiki symbols, and orbs.
I felt honored to be a witness to all the love from the generations of her family.

Transformed

The title of this piece is
"Transformed"
12 x 36
SOLD
An angel wing on canvas using antique books, hymns and love letters.  One of the hymns was called "Transformed"
The title is appropriate in two ways, because the paper has been transformed into a lovely wind, but also because this painting was finished before.  It was a highly textured wing on a brown background, but after looking at it for a bit, I decided to take it a few steps beyond, transforming it into one of my favorites!   Sometimes you only think you are finished!!
