Hockey Day in Canada Lloydminster 2014

I was commissioned to create this painting for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada

Held in Lloydminster January, 2014.
The art was used to create a banner for the event, and the original painting was auctioned off at the closing banquet.
The painting features a girl and boy, both wearing Lloydminster hockey jerseys. The girl is sporting a Canadian toque and the Lloydminster Border Markers are featured in the background.
The original painting is 24 by 48
Prints will soon be available.

Antique Chairs and Art

My new friend, Jenny, brought me these chairs to paint.  They belonged to her husbands grandmother and he is very sentimental about them.  I got rid of the peeling paint, painted them both Heirloom White, then painted on them.  The landscapes are reminiscent of area his family is from.  The elevator, sunflowers and crab apple tree are things he remembers about growing up.

Tree Mural

Its been a busy summer.  Just completed a tree mural on a building in downtown Lloydminster.

It is actually in a busy alley way, just off the street.  You meet sooo many interesting people that way!! How many people get to hear, "Great Job!"  "Looks good!"  "Great Work!" ...all day long?  How can it get any better than that?  I made some new friends and enjoyed these fabulous warm days of September!

Recycled, Re-used, Re-Imagined

I had some cabinet doors that I picked up at the local Re-Store.
I painted and distressed them a long time ago, but had put them away and forgot about them for a bit.
I took them to the lake, and did a little painting on a rainy weekend.
I love the idea of using things that might be tossed out.
These two items are some of my favorite subjects.

Coolest "Hockey Locker" room ....Ever!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/grafittigirl?ref=si_shop Check out my ETSY store
Kale is a young man who enjoys hockey and Taekwon-Do, too.
He got this awesome hockey locker scene painted in his room.
It added so much dimension to a ordinary sized bedroom.

His skates and hockey stick are painted on the wall, with his helmet above.

The ball and glove and Taekwon-Do suit show his varied interests.

And I believe that this year, Kale won the Stanley Cup!

Baby Room........ Welcome Nash Clark

I painted in a very special nursery.

Nash Ross Clark
arrived on March 5, 2013.
His proud parents are Jay and Alex.

This sweet nursery is decorated in gray and white, with little touches of yellow.
The little owl in the tree is just like the stuffed one in Nash's crib.

"Wings of Love" "Ask, Believe, Receive"

"Ask, Believe, Receive"
11 x 14 inches
mixed media on canvas
ready to hang

I taught a "Wings of Love" class at the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre at the beginning of the month and met some lovely ladies.
It's so interesting to hear what they will use in their wings and why.
One lady used her childrens' artwork (on a purple background! Loved it!)
One did a song that her dad used to sing to her, another used photocopies of photos from New York.

These wings were created with pages from the book, "The Secret", parts of an antique book of Shakespeare's sonnets, old music sheets and magazines.
I accented using ink and paint.
