Happy Moo Year!!

Baby Blue
8 x 10
49.00
I totally did this one just for fun.  In fact, I painted over a painting that I didn't really like, so its kind of a two for one.
I love the new year.  I get a feeling of renewed ambitions, a fresh start,
and looking forward to all the possibilities.
I have decided to make a few "resolutions"....more like "intentions"
I intend to meditate every day.
I have been meditating often, but not every day.
I intend to go outside every day.
When I'm painting, or working on a commission, the entire day, or several in a row,
can go buy without me even venturing out.
I intend to keep a gratitude journal for the year.
I have done for a month, and it really helps you look for things to be grateful for.

What do intend for 2013?
Feel free to leave a comment.

Nicole and Kam's Wings of Love

I just realized that I never posted a picture of my niece's and nephew-in-law's wedding gift.

I painted a large pair if wings (24x36) I included parts of their wedding invitation, photos from their childhoods, map of places they were going on their honeymoon, and love songs including some from their wedding. The centre heart was part of their wedding decorations.

A commission

This painting of a family at the cabin toll me a looong time to paint. Seven grandchildren by the fire......with grandma and grandpa, and moms and dads on the deck. I put in a lot of late nights getting it done on time! My fault, totally!!! New Years resolution - Stop procrastinating....I was going to stop last year, but I didn't!!

Abstract thoughts.......

Ive been working on a commission and sometimes I get a little frustrated so I thought I would
do a "Creative Warm-Up"  You know, just to loosen up a bit.
I have this little rock that I keep in my pocket or on my table where I paint,
and when I look at it, it inspires me on many levels.
I think about all the things I am grateful for - my family,
my art career, my friends, my lovely home, the Internet, and more.
I love looking at it's calming colors and there are little bits embedded in it too.
I guess you could call in my touch-stone.

This painting is inspired by my little stone.

Art Day

Barn in Winter
8 x 10
50.00
Yesterday I hosted a group of friends for a day of painting.  Such fun.  We enjoyed a yummy pot luck lunch, and painted and laughed and created.
Kelly, Dorothy and I worked on a barn painting, Brenda did a red Cardinal in a pine tree, and Frankie finished up her wings she started in my September class. Beccy couldn't come for the entire day, so she came for coffee.

We will be meeting again next week on Wednesday.
This is Brenda's painting.

Nest and Eggs

10 x 10
70.00
As you may have noticed, I am a little addictied to painting nests and eggs.
I am also in love with this colour.
The chair in the middle is one I picked up at an antique sale and painted robin's egg blue,
and the blue chairs on either side were my grandparents.  They received them as a wedding gift, one from his family and one from hers.  I am so thankful to have their chairs.
This painting is available for sale in my Etsy shop.

Addi's Third Birthday

Our granddaughter, Addisen, turned three years old on Saturday. I had the honor of making her a birthday cake. I was suggesting all kinds of cakes to her for weeks! Barbie, ladybugs, Patchy-Patch(from Toopy and Bino) etc. she never seemed to have much of an opinion except she kept saying she wanted a bike. She was here the other day so she helped me bake the cakes. I have fun baking with her and she loves licking the bowl. So this is her cake.

Jack's Birthday Party

Our grandson, Jack had his first birthday party! I made his cake, a block that spelled his name and his blue monkey, that he loves. The monkey is made of Rice Krispie treats and the block is chocolate!! Nice and messy! He did a good job of demolishing it.

Happy birthday to ME!

A Rainy Day at the Cabin

I love spending time at the lake, especially with my grandchildren.  Addie and I got creative, and ate some licorice and had a sleepover.  She slept in the castle.

The next night was quiet so I got out my paints and did a couple tiny little paintings.  Each one is only 2.75 inches square.  They are for sale on my Etsy site, or if you are local you can contact me.

My Beautiful Niece got Married

Kam and Nicole got married at Panorama waaay up on the mountain.  It was a hot, gorgeous day!!  There were so many beautiful parts of this wedding.  Nicole wore my mothers's (her grandmother's) bolero jacket that mom wore on her wedding day.  She wore it for the ceremony and it looked beautiful with her dress.  Kam and Nicole are adventure seekers, and met at Panorama!!

Top two photos by Cole Hofstra

I was honored to do their wedding cake.  It was a three tiered carrot, chocolate, and white cake, with cream cheese icing, finished with rolled fondant ombre ruffles.  (like water, Nicole said)  She made her cake topper, they were engaged in a canoe, and my brother perfected the spectacular slab of wood the cake sat on.

Wynonna at Harvest To Home

This is a window painting I did for the CPCAs (Aug 22 - 26).
Unfortunately, Wynonna will not be here for the Chuckwagon Cabaret. Her new husband was in a bad motorcycle crash. But she did put in an appearance at Harvest to Home.

McKenzie's Room..... a damask inspired Mural

McKenzie is a young girl who decided to be inspired everyday,
when she looks at her room.
It was hard to get a good photo with the flash going off, and not enough light without it.

Brody's Room: Under the Sea Mural

A fun adventure under the sea.  This mural had lots of coral, a dolphin, an orca, and a couple of sea turtles.  The little scene on the left of the bottom photo is where his built-in desk will be.
